Another Memorial Day weekend has come around. It seems like we were just doing this not too long ago. This year I’ve been thinking, more than I usually do, about all the veterans who have served this country and fought to maintain our freedom. I fear that there is no good way to tell them thank you. They do a job that the majority of people would never want to do and often don’t even think about. How truly grateful I am for the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces of this nation. They are definitely some real life heroes.
I've come to really love this song. It's words are taken from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and I think it's a perfect tribute to our veterans.

This summer...
I'm so very excited for this summer! Here are just a few reasons why:
- Jared, Jennifer, Ashley, and Landon are coming to visit
*family pictures
*cookouts
*finally getting to see all of them after almost two years-I'm going to the temple.
-I'm working as designer's/coordinator's assistant for The Sound of Music and The Barber of Seville
-I plan to buy a vehicle, move out, make some decisions about schooling, and read some books I've been gathering.
-And hopefully somewhere in there is a lot of playing around with family and friends.
Come 3:00 this afternoon I'll officially be on summer vacation. YAY!!!!!

I'm so near the end, I can taste it
I have two more days of school. You wouldn't believe how excited I am! I have enjoyed subbing-especially the steady job part-but I cannot wait for this school year to be done. I've got exciting things ahead of me, I'm looking forward to being at the opera full time, and I'll be able to save on gas money since I won't have to drive to Richmond every day. Woot!!!
P.S. My brother and his family come on Friday. In the words of my dad: "I'm so excited! I can't sleep!"

An Ode to Ms. Downs
One of my students wrote this today:
Ms. Downs

by Thomas
Ms. Downs is such a clown
I can never frown
When she's around
She teaches us much
About countries and such
That makes us know
Where on the map to go
We take fun tests
We are such jests
With a class this fun
I never want it to be done

Catch-up... or is it mustard???
Tomorrow marks two weeks since I returned home from Peru and life has been crazy every since. I went back to school where I found a huge stack of papers to grade. It took me about a week to get through them all. Now there are 3 weeks left of school, with the last one being so full of activities that it's pretty much a waste.
I had a Stake Relief Society meeting last week that took some preparation. It was really good though and I'm glad it got moved so that I was here for it.
I also started at the opera this week. (I go there after school). We're working to get everything ready for the folks who'll be here next week. It's hard to believe that it's already time for the opera again.
All in all, things are going pretty well. I'm busy but it's all good and I enjoy it.
I'm currently figuring out what things I need to do to go back to school, which is a decision I've recently made so we'll see how things go!!!
