Growing up, we had a book entitled "If I Obey, I'll Be Happy All Day". I don't even remember what the book was about but the title stuck with me all these years. Lately, I've been thinking about obedience and what it means to me. I can obey traffic laws (I'm really trying to do better with my speeding between Smithfield and Richmond ;) ) and other laws of the land, I can obey my parents, but most of all, I can obey my Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ. Obedience to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ truly does bring happiness. I've re-learned this as I've recently had to make decisions in my life and figure out where I'm going. The common thread through all of the things I've gone through is that if I am obedient, I will be directed as to which path I should take and which decision I make. Obedience has truly brought real happiness back to my life. It doesn't mean things are perfect but it does mean that I am happy and have hope in the future.
"Daily obedience to gospel principles is the only sure way to eternal happiness."
-Pres. Thomas S. Monson
