Michael
There is a man whom I know. His name is Michael. There are many who despise him for who he is and what he does, but I like him very much, even if he is a bit eccentric. On Tuesday night I attended a fireside where he was the featured speaker. It was a wonderful night. He spoke of the world we live in, of the adversary's desire for each of us to forget who we are, and finally of seeking out the virtuous, lovely, and good things of this world and filling our lives with them. His words touched my heart and helped me to remember the value that I have in the eyes of The One who matters most. Thank you Michael.

Saturday is a special day...
Last Saturday (the 25th) I joined together with my mom and three of my aunts, and traveled to Salt Lake for a day of fun. We started at IKEA where I loaded up on some needed stuff for the soon-approaching move--at least I hope it's soon-approaching. After that we grabbed some delicious lunch at In-N-Out and checked out the Draper Peaks shopping area. We then went on a hunt for a yarn shop that my mom wanted to check out but didn't end of getting there before it closed. Then a quick trip to Paradise Bakery, where we picked up some yummy cookies, used up just enough time for us to get downtown and find a place to park so we could get to the event which was the catalyst for Saturday's journey. You see, we had tickets to participate in the General Relief Society Meeting in the Conference Center. It was a fantastic meeting. I took copious notes and especially loved listening to President Monson. How blessed I am to be a member of a church led by a living prophet! After the meeting we got out of Salt Lake and stopped off in Centerville for dinner at Iggy's. It was a really great day.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious
I went to the bank to withdraw some money this afternoon. The teller asked to see my i.d. since I was withdrawing a somewhat large sum of money. After counting my money for me, and bidding me adieu, he threw in "that's a really old i.d." Thanks Mr. Bank Man. It sure is.
Just in case you've never seen my driver's license, it's one of the old school issues. I happened to get it not long before the new format was unveiled. While the good majority of my friends and other people I know are currently sporting fancy, schmancy licenses, I get to carry around the prehistoric piece of plastic covered paper for another year. Yay!

Note to Self:
If the cheesy Mormon romance novel on cd is read by a woman, leave it where it is at the library and WALK AWAY!!!

Happy Fall 2010!!!
Say goodbye to:

I absolutely love FALL! I heart the smells (apple, pumpkin, caramel), the feel (crisp, cool), and the oh-so-gorgeous sights (changing leaves-HELLO!)
It's one of the most fleeting seasons I think. The leaves only stay beautifully picturesque for a short time and then it gets icky brown and time for the winter snow's cover-up. I take in as much of this season as I can and save it all up in my heart until it rolls around next year. Welcome Fall!

Tomatoes
Every year, around the first part of September, my mom--and whomever else she can rope into helping her--travel to Tremonton to pick tomatoes. It usually coincides with Labor Day and my/my brother's birthday. This year however, the trip was made a little later than usual and my mom convinced me to go help her. We were on a tight schedule and managed, along with my aunt, to pick three bushel in half an hour. We rocked it!

The Big 2-5
On Saturday 4 September 2010, I turned 25 years old. That day marked the beginning of nearly two weeks of celebrations.
The play-by-play:
Saturday 4 September
*hot chocolate with one of my favorite people (He didn't realize it was my birthday when we got together but coincidently our first meeting had to be rearranged and Saturday just happened to work best so I think it was meant to be ;o) )
*temple session at the Ogden Temple with Michelle and Heather followed by dinner at La Ferrovia and ice cream at Farr Better (Check out this link for the full story)
Monday 6 September
*fishing and shooting with my dad and brother
*chatting with my brother and his kids in TX (The 6th is his birthday and he turned 33. According to his son Landon, they went out to dinner for my birthday but didn't actually think about me during said dinner. Landon's 6. He tells it like it is. :o) They happened to go to a barbeque place, which I thought was ironic. -->see Friday 10 September)
*birthday dinner with the fam which consisted of steak, dutch oven potatoes, grilled zuchinni, cucumbers in vinegar, ginger ale, and tunnel cake (aka The cake I've chosen for my birthday for probably 20 years which is absolutely delicious!)
Friday 10 September
*birthday dinner #2 with Heather, Michelle, and Michelle at Smokin' Blues Barbeque followed by hilarious conversations at "the house" and the consumption of mysterious cupcakes
Thursday 16 September
*Lion King and Olive Garden dinner in Salt Lake with my mom and Patti (My mom asked what I wanted for my birthday and while I could think of plenty of "practical" things I decided on Lion King tickets. She has a sweet connection with on of wardrobe masters for the show so he hooked us up with a backstage tour and excellent tickets. It was an AWESOMELY AMAZING night!)
As I think back over my celebration and look at the pictures that documented each of the events, I realize how truly blessed I am. I've got great friends, a fabulous family, and so many things to be thankful for. Life is good.
